Born in 1957. He studied at the Kunstakademie, Münster, from 1978 to 1986. Throughout the past 15 years, Dieter Kiessling has consistently devoted himself primarily to questioning and investigating the generation and playback of images by (analog) technical media: television, video camera, slide projector.
Continue is a minimalist, conceptual work that repeatedly poses the same question about the continuation of the interactive process.
"Although we are dealing apparently with branches (the subdivisions of the options), it is in fact a one-way street: we can only start over from the beginning, again and again, and the route we follow will always be exactly the same. Continue makes no attempt to fool us into believing in the false infinities the hype surrounding the CD-ROM would have us believe in. Continue takes us to the other end, or, if one chooses, the beginning: to the binary code degree zero." (Astrid Sommer)
