Culture vs. Martians

Art Jones is a filmmaker, video and digital media artist and a disturber of general social events. His art is a culmination of live "feeds" with intensive video mixing into a cacophony of visual bombastic displays on multiple monitors or links. His work makes extensive use of popular music and mainstream media culture as raw material to be sampled and re-combined in order to examine implicit meanings or suggest new ones.

Working within a particular genre or mode, the work seeks to explore, destroy and re-orient the conventions of "the media." The formal construction of Jones's mediaworks reflects the rhythms and beat of rap music.

Culture versus the Martians is an ongoing series of digital explorations throughout our media-saturated cultural landscape. Playful, thought-provoking and sexy, it is a CD-Rom collection of videos, sounds, screensavers, and interactive work.
